Production Characteristics

Area: Parco della Vite e del Vino dei Colli Orientali del Friuli in Colloredo di Soffumbergo, vineyards: “Sotto Casa”.
Land type: Marl and sandstone rocks of Eocene origin, rich in limestone, potassium, moderate in phosphorous, magnesium and other micro-elements.
Cultivation method: Guyot.
Grape harvest: rigorously by hand, in cases, in the second half of October.
Vinification: Raisining of the grapes into 110-litre barrels. After the pressing, the must, when settled, is left to ferment in small 225-litre small oak casks, without controlled temperature.
Refinement: Bottle ageing for at least 24 months.

 

 

Wine Characteristics

Heartbreaking, unique, unmistakable, these are just few of the adjectives used to describe this ancient and prestigious Friulian grape variety.
Its genetically straggly clusters (flower abortion) carry just a few, very sweet, golden-amber grapes.
Its harvesting and vinification are a rite which has been jealously handed down from generation to generation, its bunches are rigorously hand selected and harvested, then gently placed into a drying room.
After a long and pondered waiting, the grapes are softly crushed and the obtained must is put into solely dedicated oak 110-litre barrels, where it ferments slowly, softening out and evolving over time.
Our EOOS is just like that, born of history and time, warm and intense golden yellow, dense to the glass, silky to the palate, sweet and intriguing, with acacia and apricot hints and pastry-shop sensations.
PICOLIT evolves over time when bottled, it comes round, gains balance. Hence, it offers us intense emotions and a great history lesson.
